Office professions on the rise – at least some
The share of office professions is higher than it has been in fifteen years. However, the work areas contribute to this to varying degrees. Assistant roles barely play a part in the sample anymore. Administrative professions grew the most. Administrative specialists are more sought-after than at any time since 2008; they are now among the top 25 professions (22nd place).
A large share of the positions are to be filled in clerical work; no fewer than three of the specializations are among the top 25 professions: clerks for general tasks have slipped somewhat but still rank twelfth (2025: 6th place). HR departments are looking more often for reinforcements for their own teams: as a result, personnel specialists have moved up six places in the ranking (20th place). The bottleneck profession of freight and logistics service agents has even made up nine places (23rd place).
It remains to be seen how the occupational area will develop. Recently, several international corporations announced plans to replace office jobs with AI. A study by Deloitte also predicts that in office professions, around 35 percent of working time could be replaced by AI technologies by 2035.
