Bottleneck in freight transport growing

A strong increase in the transport area is due to the demand for driving staff in freight transport. Almost one in ten job offers in the occupational area is aimed at professional drivers, who are now in 20th place (2025: 31). The choice of jobs at courier services has also grown.

In warehouse logistics, the weak economy led to a decline in share. It does not affect all activities to the same extent: while forklift drivers remain among the top 10 professions, employers need fewer semi-skilled workers. Warehouse and transportation workers are further back than at any time since 2011 (32nd place). For the first time, they were overtaken by the training occupation of warehouse logistics specialist (24th place). As a result, the share of skilled workers in the warehouse logistics job market is rising again and stands at a good third (34.2 %). By way of comparison: in 2015 it was not even a fifth. With a view to professionalization in warehouse logistics, it is critical that employers are often unable to fill their training positions here.

In maintenance, the loss of share is spread across almost all professions. It was somewhat more pronounced for vehicle mechatronics technicians. They did not hold their place among the top 10.
